Barley grown on the Montana Highlands, mashed with imported Scottish yeast, and then triple-distilled the Irish way - a new class of Whisky was born that could only be labeled 'CELTIC'. This superbly rich single malt is matured in a combination of the finest casks. Non-chill filtered, of natural color and bottled at 101 proof, our Highland Laddie is a sweet, bold dram. Warm, rich oak and sherry sweetness, full mouth feel, raisins and soft fruits. Spicy with medium length and a dry finish.
George Washington started making rye whiskey at Mt. Vernon back in 1797 at which time it was unaged and reportedly rather sharp tasting.
More than 200 years later, the rye for our fine whiskey comes to us from the Montana Highline, a rich farming region just south of the Canadian border.
We mill it at the distillery, mash and ferment it ‘on-the-grain’ to capture all of the spicy flavor components rye whiskey is renowned for.
The wort is double distilled in our copper pot still and only the heart cuts are matured in charred American white oak barrels. Once the spirit has reached the desired complexity and body it is ready for bottling. This wonderfully rich and sippin' smooth dram is best enjoyed on ice, just enough to allow the gentle spicy grain to tantalize the senses. We also use it in creating one of our signature cocktails: The Smokejumper. Ask for it when you visit and you'll agree: It's absolutely awesome.
Put Some Montana In Your Glass
The wheat for this fine whiskey is grown within a few miles from our distillery by our farming neighbors.
We mill it, mash it to extract its sweet starch and ferment it " on -the -grain" to capture all of its delicate flavor components.
The wort is then double distilled in our copper pot still and only the purest middle cuts are set aside in charred American oak barrels that will produce the finest, richest spirit.
The light and uniquely pleasant flavor of this straight Wheat Whiskey is a remarkable departure from the few other wheat whiskeys available today.
